He was one of those people who until the new documentary last year I had assumed was dead already.

Towlie - 13 Nov 2020 08:38:00 (#2 of 82)

Yorkshire RIPper, ffs.

Towlie - 13 Nov 2020 08:38:19 (#3 of 82)

Actually, fuck resting in peace, the cunt can burn.

StakludKar - 13 Nov 2020 08:47:35 (#4 of 82)

This and Dominic Cummings leaving. Friday 13th. Lucky for some

Ebadlun - 13 Nov 2020 08:48:56 (#5 of 82)

He had his faults, if we're being fair.

Actually, fuck resting in peace, the cunt can burn.

Seconded.

He suffered from psychiatric issues, didn't he? Despite the awful nature of his crimes, I think it is possible to feel some sympathy with him.

solomongursky - 13 Nov 2020 09:18:58 (#8 of 82)

He was essentially protected by incompetent police with a shitty attitude to women.

Crayola - 13 Nov 2020 09:19:01 (#9 of 82)

Hmm. Interesting view. I think anyone who kills multiple people has psychiatric issues.

But not everyone with psychiatric issues kills multiple people.

The other cunt in this terrible tail is the prick who made the false tape recording "Wearside Jack ".

I don’t. My sympathy is with his victims and their families. I attended a talk by the son of one of the women he killed. The night she went missing, he and his sister (both under ten) were wandering the streets, looking for their mum. It was heartbreaking.

Fuck Sutcliffe. I wish I still believed in religion - I’d like to believe he was burning in hell for all eternity.

Yes, good point.

It is a bit of a dilemma, isn't it, as Christianity both provides the mechanism of retribution, and also preaches forgiveness.

machiavelli - 13 Nov 2020 09:23:00 (#14 of 82)

I was just looking at the pictures of his victims. The sad thing is that he'll be remembered publicly long after they will.

FleurDuMal - 13 Nov 2020 09:23:26 (#15 of 82)

Stop trying to derail the thread.

FleurDuMal - 13 Nov 2020 09:23:42 (#16 of 82)

Not you, mach

ReverendBlueJeans - 13 Nov 2020 09:25:21 (#17 of 82)

That he lasted so long is testament to at least one surviving shred of decency in the former UK; however vile someone is, however wicked their crimes, we don't pile violence on violence by executing people.

It's not much, I suppose. But it needs to be protected.

He's of very low intelligence and has mental health problems. He went to the police, soon after he made the call and was told to bugger off. I think he went more than once.

Not you, mach

Hmmm.

Paranoid schizophrenia but his crimes weren't indicative of someone who was in the throes of a psychotic episode. They were drawn out over a long period of time and he prepared for them (all the 'tools' were kept in his lorry and there was significant premeditation).
