Anneliese. That's an oompah-oompah song popular in German beer halls.

is like the stars that please the night

A faint echo of a long dead object?

mingmong - 16 Nov 2020 16:28:48 (#3 of 33)

((Desi and his divergent reality))

wickeltisch - 16 Nov 2020 16:44:08 (#4 of 33)

How come Ms Dodds has got a German Christian name?

AdonisBlue - 16 Nov 2020 16:49:26 (#5 of 33)

I've got the Damned's Eloise as an earworm now.

solomongursky - 16 Nov 2020 16:53:11 (#6 of 33)

Saw them in Brockwell Park 1983. Some punks called me a wanker.

AdonisBlue - 16 Nov 2020 16:58:46 (#7 of 33)

Sorry bout that.

Arjuna - 16 Nov 2020 17:01:44 (#8 of 33)

the CND gig?

moto748 - 16 Nov 2020 17:03:07 (#9 of 33)

The who's Eloise?

There's only one Eloise.

wickeltisch - 16 Nov 2020 17:07:07 (#10 of 33)

Barry Ryan sang that.

moto748 - 16 Nov 2020 17:08:17 (#11 of 33)

Not as far as I'm concerned.

wickeltisch - 16 Nov 2020 17:12:12 (#12 of 33)

He was the first though.

If you don't count Beethoven's 'Für Elise'.

moto748 - 16 Nov 2020 17:14:43 (#13 of 33)

I take it all back, wickel!

My apologies, I was thinking of this:

solomongursky - 16 Nov 2020 17:17:39 (#14 of 33)

the CND gig?

Yeah, Hazel O'Connor played, and Madness. John Peel had to go to hospital cos the punks threw mud at him.

wickeltisch - 16 Nov 2020 17:27:23 (#15 of 33)

#13 I had completely forgotten that song and that band. Both were not really worth remembering though.

How come Ms Dodds has got a German Christian name?

At one time Scottish parents used to try and choose neutral noncatholic nonprotestant names, I think.

I don't know whether that was the case in her case though.

Perhaps she had a German mother.

Just occurred to me - she was born in Aberdeen, Yvette Cooper was born in Inverness, that was all.

1MELSM - 21 Nov 2020 10:11:51 (#17 of 33)

Never mind Dodds, why was Cooper named after a Mini car?

(she'd have insisted on not mentioning the 'S' word)

Sunfish - 21 Nov 2020 10:32:32 (#18 of 33)

Dodds is dreadful. She won’t be there for long.

mingmong - 21 Nov 2020 12:34:51 (#19 of 33)

McDonald was better. Not only was he a natty dresser, but throwing the Red Book at Osborne showed a promising instinct for raising political trolling to the dimension of performance art

Shadrack22 - 21 Nov 2020 12:38:43 (#20 of 33)

She won’t be there for long.

Reeves will probably replace her in the next reshuffle.
