Fury as “woke” BBC CENSORS “Fairytale of New York”

“Snowflake culture” at Radio 1 has been blamed for the BBC’s REFUSAL to play the original version of Fairytale of New York this Christmas because its audience may be OFFENDED by some of the lyrics. The station said young listeners were particularly sensitive to derogatory terms for gender and sexuality.

Actor and cultural commentator Laurence Fox called for the original version to be sent to number one, and demanded DEFUNDING of the BBC.

The Pogues, who sung the original offensive lyrics, denounced Fox’s campaign, saying “fuck off you herrenvolk little shit”.

Radio 2 will play the uncut version

I guess its the more dangerous station these days.

deadmanwalking23 - 19 Nov 2020 14:24:44 (#5 of 409)

Does Radio 1 play Christmas music anyway? Radio 2 certainly does.

thisonehasalittlehat - 19 Nov 2020 14:24:52 (#6 of 409)

Maybe it would just be better to edit the song with a little parenthesis in which the music stops and a nice RP continuity announcer say "by which they mean bundle of sticks" before it begins again.

The fucking NYPD choir can go, though.

Defund the cunting police.

In the video it's the fire brigade. So basically you're saying you support Bin Laden.

Tenesmus - 19 Nov 2020 14:29:01 (#9 of 409)

They need to announce before each play that "this song contains outdated language that some listeners may find offensive. If you are affected by this or any other issues around the playing of music, contact this helpline..."

The Pogues also lent their support to the coat of the late transvestite Pete Burns, which tweeted, “The word itself being in Fairytale Of New York doesn’t bother or offend me, but straight people being so angry & outraged at its removal and literally fighting and arguing for the right to sing it bothers me deeply”.

"Faggot: a bundle of sticks, for the uneducated among you."

You could have been someone

But so could anyone

Tenesmus - 19 Nov 2020 14:30:39 (#14 of 409)

It's still not the best Christmas song, with or without faggots.

TheVoiceOfReason - 19 Nov 2020 14:32:11 (#15 of 409)

The best Christmas song is Silent Night you heathens.

AdonisBlue - 19 Nov 2020 14:32:56 (#16 of 409)

Faggots are meatballs.

thisonehasalittlehat - 19 Nov 2020 14:34:07 (#17 of 409)

It depends whether you want to chuck a faggot on the fire or down your throat, surely.

TauCeti - 19 Nov 2020 14:34:39 (#18 of 409)

This 'fury' has been doing the rounds quite some years iirc; good for royalties am sure.

Catspyjamas17 - 19 Nov 2020 14:34:49 (#19 of 409)

"Or meatballs made from minced off-cuts and offal *shudder* for Northerners and Welsh people".

AdonisBlue - 19 Nov 2020 14:35:25 (#20 of 409)

Yup, sometimes sold in chippys.
