Even provided that his party will be disciplined, that may not last more than two years, though.

That's true. And as Dems go he has a particularly strong history of bipartisanship in any case. But at least to begin with he's going to be less constrained by the need for it than I'm sure most of us had expected.

On the other hand, if the Republicans who've finally started to stand up for the rule of law - Mitt Romney and so on - keep doing so, I imagine we'll see a swing back their way next time there's a chance for people to vote. There, that's my political prediction for 2021 ...

mikeshadow - 08 Jan 2021 23:47:54 (#102 of 120)

I predict that the local authorities and devolved governments’ elections due in May will be postponed again.

emorobot - 09 Jan 2021 13:21:30 (#103 of 120)

Cthulhu to come back disguised as a politician.

Anti-trans activists to urge all feminists to ban abortion so that men can't perform abortions on themselves while disguised as women.

Donald Trump to escape to Britain and become leader of the Tory Party under the assumed name "Ronald Pump".

Tories to abandon inoculation plans and make infection with COVID-19 compulsory.

With Joe Manchin and a couple of other right wing Dems, he’ll need a few Republicans for most (all) things. In some ways this might even mean less progress as, instead of signing a load of progressive executive orders (which he’s already said he doesn’t like doing), he’s likely to focus on trying to get bipartisan legislation passed.

Donald Trump to escape to Britain and become leader of the Tory Party under the assumed name "Ronald Pump".

Johnson is going to give him a knighthood and elevate him to the house of lords.

Well his mother is Scotch.

nemo75 - 09 Jan 2021 14:19:24 (#106 of 120)

Do you mean a peerage?

bailliegillies - 09 Jan 2021 14:22:41 (#107 of 120)

and a knighthood, Trump will demand he's a Sir.

WibbleAgain - 09 Jan 2021 14:36:28 (#108 of 120)

#105

You mean the assumed name Tronald Dump.

Tagyourit - 09 Jan 2021 20:14:50 (#109 of 120)

Cthulhu to come back disguised as a politician.

I for one welcome our new tentacular overlords and look forward to seeing a shoggoth on every street corner.

Vote Cthulu - No lives matter.

WibbleAgain - 09 Jan 2021 20:45:38 (#110 of 120)

Given this thread failed so spectacularly about the storming of the US Capitol, shouldn't it be shut down in shame!

tasselhoff - 09 Jan 2021 21:24:48 (#111 of 120)

The last line of #75 was pretty close. And may yet prove true.

kvelertak - 10 Jan 2021 00:11:02 (#112 of 120)

Another vote for Cthulhu here. It's time.

Jacob_Richter - 10 Jan 2021 00:21:54 (#113 of 120)

I predict the planet will continue to warm.

Jacob_Richter - 10 Jan 2021 00:22:15 (#114 of 120)

That the rich will get richer.

Jacob_Richter - 10 Jan 2021 00:22:29 (#115 of 120)

And the poor, poorer.

Jacob_Richter - 10 Jan 2021 00:23:01 (#116 of 120)

And that the gap between rich and poor will widen.

SinnerBoy - 10 Jan 2021 00:58:30 (#117 of 120)

But we'll be like India, full of entrepreneurs an call centres!

TauCeti - 10 Jan 2021 07:47:27 (#118 of 120)

'Savings lives' as in all news outlets will lead to a massive explosive overpopulation; save lives yes now feed them too. Boom! or rather - FLOp!

emorobot - 11 Jan 2021 14:20:02 (#119 of 120)

The sun will rise in the morning and set in the evening. Winters will be colder than summers. Jacob will get more insufferably sanctimonious.

bossab2 - 11 Jan 2021 19:13:51 (#120 of 120)

Making a few assumptions there emorobot...
