Buccaneering takes off:

„Scottish fishing vessels will begin heading in larger numbers to Denmark to land their catches from this week“

Flying the scull and crossbones...

FleurDuMal - 17 Jan 2021 10:47:30 (#18 of 114)

I’m sure there will be opportunities to resurrect the smuggling trade.

TauCeti - 17 Jan 2021 10:47:30 (#19 of 114)

Will they be able to sell their fish to a fishing country? will they want it? doesn't brexit count for that?

Surely it's already in place and expanding?

There's some schadenfreude in the word 'shock' in that guardian leader but it's not really very funny. Export sales at my workplace have plummeted, vanishingly so.

Jacob_Richter - 17 Jan 2021 12:55:41 (#22 of 114)

Presumably, the Scottish fishing vessels still have all the export red tape when they land their catch in Denmark rather than their home ports, just that the timescale is reduced for a perishable product. And, I imagine, the market, processing and warehousing now passes to Danish firms.

Brexit - good for the Danish fish processing and wholesale industry.

HorstVogel - 17 Jan 2021 12:58:17 (#23 of 114)

just what I thought, Grimsby 0 : 1 Esberg, and it's early in the first half.

I‘m not quite sure about that.

I suspect that Jacob Really Smug will find that the catch will be accepted as DANISH fish!

Meanwhile post-Brexit holdups affecting the UK's lucrative denture export trade have been dismissed by Dominic Raab as 'mere teething problems'.

Apart from anything else, it's not true; it's no shock to anybody. Well, except for those who wilfully misinformed themselves, of course.

frantastic - 17 Jan 2021 15:58:25 (#28 of 114)

It's no surprise but it is shocking.

Edwin has started a list of those teething problems, well companies that have been forced to stop serving the UK/NI/EU market (sometimes just temporarily or with a new minimum order)

“A British freight company director with more than over 20 years’ experience has told how EU hauliers and transport companies are turning their backs on UK business because they are being asked to provide tens of thousands of pounds in guarantees to cover VAT or potential tariffs on arrival in Britain.”

I thought the 'Finance jobs to flee London' story was FAKE NEWS.

dottie30 - 21 Jan 2021 07:10:01 (#34 of 114)

Not only 'fake news' but we got predictable 'who gives a shit about bankers anyway - what do they contribute to the country?'

We're about to find out.

When a man is tired of London, he fucks off to Paris, or if needs must, to Frankfurt.
