The long-awaited socialist alternative to Starmer's New New Labour or just a Twitter bubble?
Nippers?
I'm as professionally northern as any northerner but I can't really see the point. Yorkshire independence would make more sense - defined boundaries (when we take various bits back that Westminster loaned to other counties), our own airport and ports, an inflated sense of our own worth etc.
Where's the southern boundary of the North under their plan?
an inflated sense of our own worth etc.
Isn't that enough? It is for Brexiters, even without the etc.
#4 Doesn’t go past Cheshire.
Agree with Mach. The North as a political entity seems fanciful with no structural/cultural basis.
As for NIP. Twitter bubble for now but who knows. I suspect they will end up like the SLP/SWP. Also rans with maybe the odd councillor.
UKIP/Plaid/SNP all started small but represented one side of a major political cleavage. NIP doesn't yet have such a grounding unless the North/South divide becomes a hot button issue.
Trouble is, if it gets anywhere, the same people that join the other parties will join it.

They had a thread two weeks ago! Lack of basic research before starting a thread. Poor show.
"What do they want independence from?"
Those Lannister bastards! Call the banners!
Well I can’t see this other thread.
Splitter!

Is this the thread for the Independence of the North Party?
When the Scots embark on independence after their election, there may be a lot of talk of regional "levelling-up" in England and Wales. But the last thing the Tories will want is further carving up of the nation. Bad enough that they broke up the union by plowing ahead with Brexit.

The Lancastrians may be hard to take on - they've got Ecky Thump.
Death to the Red Rose!

Lancashire and Merseyside would be a tough nut to crack. No soft underbelly there.
