The map isn't all that useful as it doesn't show the old boundaries. The only new thing I can see is that the Isle of Wight has been split into Gammon and Ultra-Gammon.

This will not change a system where the Conservatives get one MP for every 38,000 votes but the Greens need 866,000, of course.

nemo75 - 08 Jun 2021 12:27:08 (#4 of 26)

I thought it made them roughly the same population size?

I'm much obliged to m'learned friend.

It is a bit messy, to be fair.

Catspyjamas17 - 08 Jun 2021 12:31:22 (#7 of 26)

We have gained more gammons in the north and lost some to the east.

Stuck in pineapple with you...

GyratingTrampoline - 08 Jun 2021 12:49:20 (#9 of 26)

They've chopped some off my constituency, but the bits they've chopped are in the sea. Don't think there are many voters in the sea

StakludKar - 08 Jun 2021 12:50:57 (#10 of 26)

That's global warming for you.

Verdigris - 08 Jun 2021 12:52:00 (#11 of 26)

Mine has moved fractionally closer to Westminster. A bit nibbled off the west, an increment gained in the east.

darkhorse - 08 Jun 2021 12:53:05 (#12 of 26)

We are near a constituency border, and have been moved into the neighbouring one, so I will accept permanent Tory hegemony in the UK, as it appears that it'll be a short stroll now and half the distance to the polling station in future.

airynothing - 08 Jun 2021 12:53:14 (#13 of 26)

We've lost a chunk of the eastern half of the previous constituency.

Jacob_Richter - 08 Jun 2021 13:16:47 (#14 of 26)

I've been put back in Huntingdon, which makes more sense geographically as NW Cambs was a clumsy splodge. Still pretty much get a guaranteed Tory and it will probably be Jonathan 'spy on my own party' Djanogly.

dmlc133 - 08 Jun 2021 13:18:07 (#15 of 26)

My constituency in North London remains the same, but instead of having the borough neatly divided into two, they have shifted the boundaries so there are now three constituencies covering the borough, with two of them taking in areas outside as well. Doesn't look to make much sense to me.

CarlosFandango - 08 Jun 2021 13:18:13 (#16 of 26)

The whole system is cock-eyed beyond belief.

So bad, and has been for so long, in that people assume that somehow it just has to be this way.

There are no perfect electoral systems, but the better ones all have a stong element of PR as their foundation.

We now have an unassailable tory majority in the HoC, with 56% of sitting MPs, and this is 'accepted' as carte blanche for them to fuck the country over royally.

And based on what? On 43.6% of voters actually picking them, and on 99% of voters tinking no further than "Oh, right - Boris won it fair and square..."

He emphaticaly did not, under any less archaic and wildly dysfunctional system.

Ginmonkey - 08 Jun 2021 13:21:07 (#17 of 26)

Looks like we are being sawed off our current constituency and added to a constituency that is mainly in the neighbourong borough. We will very much a minorty area and fear we will be forgotten.

MustardMitt - 08 Jun 2021 13:30:02 (#18 of 26)

I don't know why we need boundaries and democracy anyway , now that Prince Harry and Princess Meghan have destroyed the monarchy - we can replace them with good King Boris and Queen Carrieantoinette. The first thing they should do is give every one a chicken - that's what Henry IV of France did and he was popular until somebody assassinated him.

Verdigris - 08 Jun 2021 13:32:17 (#19 of 26)

I fear all the female population will receive is a goose.

dottie30 - 08 Jun 2021 13:40:45 (#20 of 26)

I'll move out of Eltham and into Erith and Thamesmead along with the rest of Shooters Hill area. I'm way closer to Eltham. Both Erith and Thamesmead are miles away.

Moreover, the two areas have completely different requirements politically.
