Smells Like Nadine Spirit

Load up on guns, bring your friends

It's fun to lose and to pretend

She's over-bored and self-assured

Oh no, I know a dirty word

But is Munira Mirza the real Culture Secretary?

GreenFuture - 16 Sep 2021 01:43:43 (#2 of 137)

I saw one of her tweets. It was just a bunch of culture-war paranoia clichés, thrown together like that fridge poetry stuff. I joked that it was a bot, then I seriously wondered if it was a spoof. It wasn't.

She is nasty and sub-mediocre enough to rise even further than this in the party.

RosyLovelady - 16 Sep 2021 08:40:35 (#3 of 137)

I think her ambition is to become a TV personality. This latest appointment matters to her in so far as it burnishes her cv as a household name.

Loose Women beckons.

Ew

Germany’s culture minister is a trained art historian; France’s wrote a book on Verdi. The new UK culture secretary ... ate ostrich anus on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Have you read any of Nadine's novels?

StakludKar - 16 Sep 2021 10:31:47 (#10 of 137)

It's pitched as like Call The Midwife but without all those unpleasant reminders of social issues or the dire lack of reproductive rights

solomongursky - 16 Sep 2021 09:36:03 (#11 of 137)

Is there any knobbing?

Arjuna - 16 Sep 2021 10:40:03 (#12 of 137)

One critic branded it the worst novel in ten years

But Mrs Dorries hit back, saying: “You should read the next one. It’s much better”.

It's a shame Barbara Cartland is dead. The Tories could put her in charge of the British Library.

As Secretary of State for Culture Wars we can expect Nadine to be going after the 'metropolitan elites' -- how dare they make fun of her books!

RosyLovelady - 16 Sep 2021 11:46:00 (#16 of 137)

I haven't read anything by ND. Is she a sort of pound shop Louise Bagshawe/Mensch? I haven't read anything by her either.

ChankNolen - 16 Sep 2021 11:53:20 (#17 of 137)

Whatever happened to Louise Mensch? Now she WAS a shaggable Tory.

StakludKar - 16 Sep 2021 11:55:50 (#18 of 137)

Aspires to Catherine Cookson territory

Remembering former poster ChaChaChaz who described ND as "a bottle blonde Scouse Becky Sharp with an insatiable appetite for cock"

mingmong - 16 Sep 2021 11:56:12 (#19 of 137)

#17 Do you think? I find those boney, self-satisfied posh types complete sexless

ChankNolen - 16 Sep 2021 11:58:22 (#20 of 137)

If memory serves, ND was also the target for McBride and Draper's planned 'double-ended dildo' smear. (Unfortunate choice of phrase, I know.)
