The three knocks of death

Should you hear the Three Knocks – reply immediately with a fourth knock – and you may cancel the omen.

Might come in handy knowing that one day.

Atticus - 11 Oct 2021 12:14:10 (#2 of 38)

10 points!

Shadrack22 - 11 Oct 2021 12:15:19 (#3 of 38)

Death knocks forever at the deaf man’s door.

"Silver tarnishes when it comes into contact with sulphur," said Jane

Silver 50 p pieces were in wide circulation in 1989, evidently.

However, once you hear the Banshees' wail, your doom is sealed.

Agaliarept - 11 Oct 2021 12:29:32 (#6 of 38)

I've got one of those video doorbells but I'm too lazy to charge it so it only works for about 5 months of the year.

Death can knock but I won't hear as I'm upstairs hoovering.

RosyLovelady - 11 Oct 2021 12:30:39 (#7 of 38)

Did you ring, dear?

solomongursky - 11 Oct 2021 11:38:48 (#8 of 38)

A hand somehow slid through the letterbox, and all the fingers were the same length. The doctor dropped the black coin in the weird-looking hand and it was withdrawn from the door.

Basically if you know anyone whose fingers are all the same length burn them.

pranzingfrogg - 11 Oct 2021 11:59:50 (#9 of 38)

I seem to recall that people born with the third finger longer than the middle become werewolves. Fingers all the same length - why worry?

Dubris - 11 Oct 2021 13:32:37 (#10 of 38)

Are they a strange lot on the Wirral, or are these links unrepresentative?

AdonisBlue - 11 Oct 2021 14:33:30 (#11 of 38)

Des is religious.

If at the full moon you hear the cries of infants followed by high-pitched female laughter, then watch out. A pontianak is nearby. This fearsome Malay ghost uses its long fingernails to remove the victim's internal organs for eating, and will sometimes suck eyeballs out of the victim's head. It is said to be attracted to the smell of clean laundry.

Macpaddy - 11 Oct 2021 15:05:53 (#13 of 38)

Could be why Beaky never washes his underwear.

nemo75 - 11 Oct 2021 15:08:15 (#14 of 38)

I didn’t think he wore any?

Atticus - 11 Oct 2021 15:18:02 (#15 of 38)

As a former resident it has some very odd areas IMHO.

Tenesmus - 11 Oct 2021 14:29:46 (#16 of 38)

Beaky's underwear?

Macpaddy - 11 Oct 2021 16:20:29 (#17 of 38)

All of Beaky's delicates are made out of Bri Nylon.

tasselhoff - 11 Oct 2021 17:29:38 (#18 of 38)

Birkenhead is very odd indeed.

Anyone with any sense got out as soon as they could.

FGBFGB - 11 Oct 2021 17:36:49 (#19 of 38)

Really? I sometimes mull over taking a holiday on the Wirral. Birkenhead - squares, park, tram heritage. Port Sunlight and the place built for Price 's candles workers. Down at heel New Brighton. Hoylake. A wander to the Hilbre Islands. The lost port of Parkgate. Lots of railways and tunnels.

tasselhoff - 11 Oct 2021 17:46:25 (#20 of 38)

There's a reason there's only about three hotels on the Wirral.
