Taxpayers to Fund Large Scale Rewilding

Or to put it another way, taxpayers to fund large scale clearances. Stripped of CAP funding tenant farmers will have no option but to throw the trowel in and hand their farms back to the landowner.

'Tax-payers' ultimately fund everything.

Some projects seem to attract more funding funded than others, moto. Rewilding will result in wealthy landowners becoming even wealthier whilst tenant farmers are disposessed.

I wonder whether we can get paid for our neglected wildlife-friendly garden.

Better ask George Useless

Interesting article, evidently Bozo gave his dad a group of beavers for his 80th birthday.

<resists joke>

Gotout - 07 Jan 2022 12:18:40 (#7 of 85)

Sounds like there could be similarities to the highland clearances.

Hmm. The Johnsons, the Goldsmiths, on manoeuvres again.

Holiday in Marbella, one good turn deserves another I suppose.

Mr Eustice added: The truth is a bunch of daffodils in supermarkets has been £1 a bunch pretty much for as long as anyone can remember.

'And there is no reason why the price of daffodils should not actually rise to maybe £1.10.

And they wonder why we get inflation, the grasping fuckers.

indlovubill - 07 Jan 2022 13:07:37 (#11 of 85)

Fuck the price of food, this could be the time to buy daffodil futures.

JohnIlly - 07 Jan 2022 13:52:43 (#12 of 85)

They are called "bulbs".

That's more a case for land owning reform than stopping rewilding.

Verdigris - 07 Jan 2022 13:57:43 (#14 of 85)

From what I heard on Farming Today, the other morning, this does have the whiff of funnelling public money into Tory donors' pockets. So, business as usual.

indlovubill - 07 Jan 2022 14:17:58 (#15 of 85)

Land owning reform? Can't say I've noticed that in the manifesto, tass anyone's manifesto.

tasselhoff - 07 Jan 2022 14:23:08 (#16 of 85)

As I've stated before, aristocrats own over four times more land than all us plebs put together. So, yes, it's the root cause of most farmers being tenants.

indlovubill - 07 Jan 2022 14:28:39 (#17 of 85)

And will be the root cause of tenant farmers being evicted so the landowners can get a slice of the £2.4 Billion PER ANNUM. That's what the thread is about in case you didn't notice.

tasselhoff - 07 Jan 2022 14:33:12 (#18 of 85)

Again, the land ownership is the issue, not the incentives.

indlovubill - 07 Jan 2022 14:39:19 (#19 of 85)

There's fuck all can be done about land ownership, however the £2.4 Billion per annum for Tory backing landowners could be reviewed, if enough people kick up enough shit.

There's fuck all can be done about land ownership

The French managed it
