Drumpf doing tariffs for aluminium and steel

It will be counter productive to have tariffs for steel and aluminium.

First you will have your US people paying more for those and then you have additionally exporters paying more like Harley Davidson and bourbons like Jack Daniels and they surely are not limited to those.

Only Drumpf would think that is good to US somehow.

"Only Drumpf would think that is good to US somehow."

I'm pretty sure he never gave it a moment's thought.

He is easily the stupidest man to ever to hold the office of President - if not the stupidest - and most dangerous - man on Earth.

Hurry up, Mueller.

Dumbo did the same, but reversed the measures after about a month before the WTO could rule against them.

Not necessarily.

The US is the biggest consumer market in the world. If you want to sell here, you can't cheat.

Drumpf. Wow that’s pathetic

barkis - 02 Mar 2018 23:26:56 (#6 of 1333)

I don't know what you mean by "consumer market". Steel isn't a consumer good.

If you want to sell to the EU you don't cheat, and if you want to export vehicles you don't force your manufacturers to pay extra costs.

Depends what you do for a living, steel is used in a lot of consumer things such as washing machines, cookers, fridges and cars, as well as the trucks that carry those things around and the bridges the trucks travel over.

Hike the price of U.S. made goods. Imports will still be cheap.

(slow handclap)

No imports work better, Americans can build engines and gearboxes but they are shit at electrics.

It's used in consumer goods, in other words manufacturers use it to produce consumer goods, making it not a consumer good.

Here's what happened the last time the U.S. introduced tariffs:

Sorry LALA, but that's not the last time the USA introduced tariffs and your example covered thousands of goods, these are only two.

I've had the displeasure of dealing with the EU Competition Commission, talk about a bunch of power hungry bureaucrats:

Of course, the tariffs give U.S. steel and alooominum manufacturers carte blanche to hike their prices. That will help their global competitiveness ...
