Abortion in the USA

This is an issue that has seriously opposed viewpoints. All viewpoints are welcomed; some arguments are to be expected.

Right to life versus right to live within the law?

What, neither?

I've got a Springsteen earworm now.

perhaps we should turn this thread into a discussion of whether there should be tariffs on the delivery of newborns.

Child taxes?

popstar7 - 04 Dec 2018 22:31:59 (#7 of 33)

Why in the USA, in particular?

Pentecost - 04 Dec 2018 22:32:42 (#8 of 33)

In the UK we have a system whereby whatever the cost is of Brexit - and it's said to be so detrimental that it could cost each family 1,500 GBP - it's trivial compared with the cost of having a child, which could cost you 100,000 GBP over its lifetime.

If ever there were an argument to encourage teen-age immigrants to the UK, then that's the one that would convince me.

USA folder.

popstar7 - 04 Dec 2018 22:35:11 (#10 of 33)

What on earth has hypothetical immigration to the UK (or anywhere else) gotnto do with abortion in the USA?

Pentecost - 04 Dec 2018 22:37:13 (#11 of 33)

FFS. I'm making a comparison and hoping to get someone to bite. It's the USA folder. Why are you trying to be reasonable? It's the USA folder.

I think you're about fifteen years late to the party. You might get into a clown dance with AnT, I suppose.

Pentecost - 04 Dec 2018 22:41:58 (#13 of 33)

I think you're right. I was hoping for GDanDickhead to show up but I doubt it's going to happen.

I'll ask the mods to kill the thread.

popstar7 - 04 Dec 2018 22:46:49 (#14 of 33)

Don't think of it as killing a thread. It's just a bundle of posts.

LaLady - 04 Dec 2018 22:52:25 (#15 of 33)

#14: HAH!!!

virgil5 - 04 Dec 2018 23:40:41 (#16 of 33)

Creating a thread just to bait somebody is cheapening the issue.

Obviously since Dan is still sincere about his misconceptions, there's a lot of cause still out there that these misconceptions are being deliberately kept alive by interests who don't care about the logic involved; they want to keep abortion criminalized and keep women in fear of taking control of their lives and futures.

It's very much about a fear of women from people who've watched the growing feminist movement, and women in general, in terror that their stupid little viewpoints about themselves will somehow be thrown out the window and they'll be exposed as bitter bigoted little creeps who can't deal with reality.

Trump is their centerfold. A blustering asshole who gets away with it because he's rich. A very sick world where money buys power. Money buys cheap and easy to get murder weapons. Money buys revenge from losers on women who are "too uppity" and powerful.

Planned Parenthood is a commie plot to increase brown voters on the Democratic Plantation.

They harvest and sell fetus brains!

Only if you show up with extra-large shoes and a red rubber nose!

Paradigmatic example of why said poster has won the Poster of the decade prize every year since 2000.

AdrianNTierney - 09 Dec 2018 01:09:00 (#19 of 33)

Abortion is a rotate and difficult individual decision. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever to have any government involvement in the process whatsoever.

Or does anyone here believe that Ted Cruz is the person to consult for a broken wrist?

TheSwearingBear - 09 Dec 2018 06:06:12 (#20 of 33)

Quite right Adrian. Now, enough.
