Of the free world, I still salute you.

The world needs your wisdom and love right now.

He's tweeting. Makes one feel better to read them.

I almost want to cry when I see video of Obama or tweets from him, you don't know how great you have it until it's gone for sure.

moto748 - 11 Apr 2020 21:11:56 (#4 of 20)

I don't think he was great, but he was a functioning adult, and of course is a colossus compared to his successor. He has also behaved with good grace and decorum since leaving office, as far as I can see.

Garden - 11 Apr 2020 21:26:25 (#5 of 20)

He understood his job, he had respect for experts and science, and he spoke in complete sentences.

Is that too much to ask of a president? I'm never looking for greatness, but at this point don't we deserve competence?

AdrianNTierney - 11 Apr 2020 21:35:11 (#6 of 20)

The History Channel has a series on the American Presidents.

You do need to watch it. It might astound you, most certainly.

moto748 - 11 Apr 2020 21:42:26 (#7 of 20)

Only goes up to Bush #1?

moto748 - 11 Apr 2020 21:43:43 (#8 of 20)

You do need to watch it.

Your implication that you are better informed than other posters hardly tallies with observed fact.

Garden - 11 Apr 2020 21:55:37 (#9 of 20)

Oh, hush. Let Adrian believe he's the smartest guy around. Doesn't change reality.

moto748 - 11 Apr 2020 21:59:39 (#10 of 20)

Oh, I will. His arrival on the thread generally spells my departure.

LucyVanPelt - 11 Apr 2020 22:05:49 (#11 of 20)

Do those people have to ruin every single thread? It is tiring.

Garden - 11 Apr 2020 22:08:39 (#12 of 20)

Sadly they probably have even more spare time than usual these days, like the rest of us.

I'm listening to John Prine and trying to focus on getting my shelves organized.

My attention span is now up to about +/- Five Minutes.

AdrianNTierney - 11 Apr 2020 22:16:50 (#13 of 20)

Do those people have to ruin every single thread?

An indication that the only thought "process" going on there is an unquenchable desire to put fingers in ears while loudly screaming: "La la la ...".

My attention span is now up to about +/- Five Minutes.

WOW!!! Impressive!

Do let us know when you'll be able to read a 'whole' paragraph in one fell swoop, eh?

LucyVanPelt - 11 Apr 2020 22:24:02 (#14 of 20)

This is what I mean by ruin right there....stop it AnT.

brooklyn - 11 Apr 2020 22:25:56 (#15 of 20)

sure. but you don't stop ant, by answering him.

I know. I have erred before.

in the meantime, we can continue to note that when the Obamas get out the vote, starting in October if not before, it will be very very helpful.

Garden - 11 Apr 2020 22:51:44 (#16 of 20)

I'm actually a bit relieved to not have the constant campaign going on all the time. I don't believe anything that happens before Labor Day makes much of an impact.

Possibly the conventions, but this year promises to have one rather dull convention on the D side and another rolling hatefest from the Tr*mpians.

An excellent summary of recent Trump press conferences.

virgil5 - 14 Apr 2020 23:05:30 (#19 of 20)

Imagine the howls with Obama in a mask.

AdrianNTierney - 14 Apr 2020 23:23:51 (#20 of 20)

Standing in line at the local post office, we were surprised when a pair of masked men burst in.

We all heaved a sigh of relief when they announced: "This is a stickup!".
