Starbucks horror as man’s GENITALS burnt off by hot tea

Tommy Piluyev, 24, is suing Starbucks, claiming the lid to a "defective" cup popped off and hot tea with a temperature of nearly 100C spilled onto his body while he was sat in his BMW car in Roseville, California. His GENITALS are scarred for life after they were severely burnt by the "scalding" hot tea.

It's a bit embarrassing, losing your manhood to Honey Citrus Mint Tea.

Snarlygog - 19 Sep 2020 23:49:42 (#2 of 20)

It's not even proper tea. He just got scalded by a herbal infusion. Sad.

The lid popping off oughtn't to result in spillage unless the cup was the wrong way up at the time which can hardly be blamed on Starbucks. Shame about his nads though

It's not even proper tea.

Proper tea is theft.

Sugar? Two lumps.

This is what happened to the much maligned woman who sued Macdonalds for being burned by hot coffee. It was har hotter than it should have been and fused her labia together. I would sue for that.

Yes, that one was always presented as litigation culture gawn mad but when you looked at the details it was quite serious though I thought it was second or third degree burns that she was treated for.

I find that drinks in those polystyrene cup things seem a) more dangerous and b) not as nice as the exact same drink in a normal mug. If I were a better man I would carry my own mug round everywhere with me and get takeaway coffee in that

FleurDuMal - 20 Sep 2020 08:42:46 (#9 of 20)

Maybe I’m being a bit heartless here, but surely a functioning adult should be able to cope with a hot drink without tipping it all over themselves?

darkhorse - 20 Sep 2020 08:44:42 (#10 of 20)

That may be Starbuck's opening defence!

Anyway, seems to hint it was a bit of a fumbled pass.

The federal lawsuit states: “As the window associate reached to the SUV’s window sill to deliver the second sleeved and lidded cup to Mr Piluyev, the lid lost its seal with the cup lip and dislodged from the top of the cup.

"Hot tea spilled on Mr Piluyev’s left hand during the transfer, the cup overturned on the window sill and hot tea poured onto Mr Piluyev’s hands, stomach and pelvic area.

Americans are such whine-arses.

lammaMia - 20 Sep 2020 11:56:00 (#12 of 20)

Perhaps it's better to display your stiff upper lips, when you end up with fused labia.

frantastic - 20 Sep 2020 14:10:33 (#13 of 20)

I thought the conventional wisdom was that you can’t get a proper hot cuppa tea in the US.

The url for the Mirror article isn't as informative as the Mail would've been. Are they teasing?

TenGorillas - 21 Sep 2020 06:44:51 (#17 of 20)

I spilled a newly boiled cup of tea Over my thigh just as the last election results were announced. Hurt like buggery And I had Angry red welts for a week but didn’t leave any scars.

This is why I only drink cold beer while driving. Safety first.

TheVoiceOfReason - 21 Sep 2020 09:01:02 (#19 of 20)

I think we should have an immediate hard lockdown until all tea machines are uninstalled.

Just get rid of drive-thru feeding stations. Then fatties will have to WALK to their favourite snacking outlets.

Q: Have all the scaldings been in cars?
